Dr. Janice Nath

Dr. Janice L. Nath is a full professor at University of Houston-Downtown in the Department of Urban Education and former Associate Dean of the College of Public Service. She has been a member of WACRA since 1999.

Dr. Nath has been actively involved in field-based teacher education for many years, formerly serving as the chair and program chair of the AERA PDSR SIG (American Educational Research Association Professional Development School Research Special Interest Group) and chair of the PDS SIG at ATE (Association of Teacher Educators).

She has served as the Coordinator for Elementary Education, Director and Assistant Director of the post baccalaureate program and internship programs, and headed PDS sites for many years in her former position at the University of Houston.

In Texas, Dr. Nath has served as the chair of CSOTTE (Consortium of Organizations for Texas Teacher Education) and of the Teacher Coordinators for Teacher Certification Testing (TCTCT) organizations, and she recently received the Howsam Award and Booker Award from state organizations in recognition of significant contributions to the educator preparation process in Texas.

Her 11 co-edited books include those on research on PDSs and beginning teacher education.
She has published over 70 chapters and articles and has made well over 100 presentations. Her writing and research was recognized with her university's Scholarship/Creativity Award.
