Joseph A. McHugh is retired Professor of Accountancy at Bentley College. He specialized in government financial management and comptrollership for 21 years, performing duties in accounting, management analysis, cost and economic analysis, and internal control education. During his years of full-time teaching, his specialties have included financial and managerial accounting, financial and managerial auditing, public budgeting and governmental accounting. 

Dr. McHugh has served the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) as Regional Vice-President of the Northeast Region, President of the Boston Chapter, as Research Board Director and a member of numerous committees. He has served as Chairman of the College and University Relations Committee. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Boston Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and is currently the Chairman of the Governmental Liaison Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the World Association for Case Method Research and Application (WACRA). He received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1970, an MBA from The Creighton University, 1966 and a B.S. in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross in 1954. He is a Certified Cost Analyst (CCA).
